CRAFT AND CAFE

What is CRAFT AND CAFE?

Tea utensils, a traditional Japanese culture, refer to
the utensils used in tea ceremonies, and are containers for storing matcha and a type of tea utensils that have existed in various types, shapes, and manufacturing methods since ancient times.

A tea utensil is a container for brewing matcha or tea, and the one used to brew strong tea is called a koicha utensil. The tea utensils used to brew weak tea are called usucha
utensils. In modern times, ceramic tea holders are used for strong
tea ware, and jujube is often used for light tea ware.

Craft and Cafe is an art workshop where participants can experience it using their imagination and sensitivity. Participants of the
workshop will be able to create a one-of-a-kind original tea utensil with their own hands as an artist, and then enjoy leisurely enjoying tea and sweets with that tea utensil.

CRAFT AND CAFE

How about "Edo Lacquerware"?

Craft and Cafe is characterized by its [Edo-nuri], which was created through repeated trial and error. More than just a pottery or workshop, Edo-nuri is characterized by the artist's sense that in addition to the tea utensil designs you can choose from, the artist's sense of kneading over 20 types of paint, layering, scraping, patterns, polishing, and finishing. This is a technique for making tea utensils while maximizing the quality. The backbone is the traditional craft [Edo lacquerware] cultivated in Edo = Tokyo for about 260 years, and for the first time we succeeded in coloring it with even more diverse colors. In addition, [Edo-nuri] incorporates not only traditional culture but also modern art techniques in the layering, shaving, patterning, polishing, and finishing of tea utensils, and it not only follows the flow of traditional Japanese crafts, but also incorporates modern art techniques. We will sublimate the work as a collection of Edo-style and Edo scenery in one tea utensil.
